This Weekend

Starting last Friday until yesterday, Monday, I was in Koreatown L.A.
I just started a new project based on Koreatown.
I guess I’m trying to document the things that I notice while there.
This is the first weekend that I started, but so far, it’s been fun.
I am going back to the basics… just trying to enjoy photography~!!!! ^^
I’m shooting chrome, so don’t have any images to post up yet.
But here are some things I did this weekend:

- shopping at old town pasadena
- taco stand in downtown l.a.
- late night dinner at jerry’s deli
- walked all around koreatown twice
- gallery opening reception in east l.a.
- 3 different coffee shops
- getty center
- kbbq
- pho

During the Holiday weekend (President's Day, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day) last week, went up to Solvang/Santa Barbara once again.

I always have fun while up there.

I love the environment of both places.

Also, there are beautiful places to take some photos.

Every time I go, I always find a new place to use as a background~ ^^

I know it's Feburary 1st, but for me, the new year starts today.

I've been so busy in the month of January... it really didn't feel like the new year started.

So, today is the day my resolutions begin.

Also, school started today, even though I didn't have class.

It's the perfect time.

I even decided to take a writing class at school this semester.

I really want to improve my reading/writing/verbal skills.

I believe that it'll help me so much with my art.

I started up early morning prayer once again, so I'll have to see how long that goes~ ^^

I hope this year will be a productive year and see many changes in my life!

It's Christmas and the new year is coming.
So I'm posting up an image of a rainbow I tried to chase this month.
I was researching the meaning of a rainbow and one of the sites stated this:

"The rainbow is a bridge between the real and imaginary. It is looked at as a magic bridge on one hand, but on the other hand, people say a project doomed to fail is one built on a rainbow. A person who chases rainbows is someone who never accomplishes anything."

I felt so stupid after reading this statement.
What was I thinking???? In the back of my mind I knew that it was an impossible task, but for some reason, I felt like there was an end and I could be the one to find it.
I guess, to me, the rainbow represents "hope".
I've been feeling like I haven't accomplished anything in my life and I've been living in my own little bubble.
So now, I feel like it's time for me to face reality and start going for my dreams/goals.
Even if there is nothing in the end, the journey will be worth it, right? ^^

Tis the Season

I guess it’s already winter.
This year, it felt like autumn never came…
Living in Southern California, you can’t really see the seasons change.
But, last weekend, I went up to San Francisco for a day trip and they already started to put up a Christmas tree, the ice rink was open, and people were dressed like it was going to snow~
Winter is my favorite season.
Hope this year is a good one for me and for everybody!!!!

Yesterday was pretty busy.
I had to wake up early to eat Thai food for lunch with a neighborhood friend~
Then, my cousin and I had to head over to my school, which is in Costa Mesa, to return some equipments.
After that, we headed over to Santa Monica to meet some people from the UK.
I just showed them around Venice Beach and Santa Monica real quick.
The main thing we saw was the sunset and the pier.
For dinner, the guests wanted to eat some Mexican food, so, of course, we had to go to El Taurino~ ^^
But on the way there, I decided to drive by Koreatown, so they can she how similar it is to Korea.
They LOVED the food~!!!!! hehehe
Well, I'm glad~
It was a great day of chatting and eating! :)

Today, I didn't get to do much because I had to work.
But, I just wanted to say how I loved the weather.
I love it when it's super windy and cloudy~
It makes me feel good~ kekeke
Also, after work, I came home and my cousin and I went out to the park to do some lighting tests before we actually start to shoot our project.
It's gonna be good. It better be good!
Now, I gotta prepare my assignments for tomorrow...

Everyone just wanted to hurry up and eat and go to an air-conditioned cafe~ ^^

It's been so long since I posted something on my blog.
This is my 4th day back home from Japan/Korea.
Still jetlagged... lacking too much sleep~ ;;;;

Anyways, I met a new friend, Annie, from this trip.
She is so sweet, so nice, and so cute~ ^^
It hasn't been too long since I've known her, but she's already leaving me to go to school out of state. T.T
So sad~~~~~~~
So, we had a farewell dinner... some bbq and some tea/coffee!!!

Last weekend, my professor was teaching a workshop on pinhole photography.
So I was there to assist him.
We made pinhole cameras out of 4x5 film boxes and attached polaroid backs to it.
I had a really great time and the kids seemed like they had fun too~ ^^
I hope the kids were inspired and continue to take photographs~

Fun Ghetto Weekend

Yesterday, I was part of a photography workshop for high school students at culver city.
It was an interesting and fun experience for me~ (I will explain in more detail and post images from the workshop on another day)
But the ghetto fun-ness started after... kekeke

I met up with couple of friends for lunch/dinner at Soup Plantation.
We had to go there cuz someone had a coupon... so the 4 of us ate for $5 each!!!!!!
ohhhhhhhhhh yeah baby~~~~~~~ ^^
Then, we headed over to my friend's place to watch the Laker game.
This was the first time I ever saw a whole complete game of basketball~ craziness!
While watching t.v., we had the munchies so decided to eat some nachos.
But, there was no cheese so we melted some American cheese, added some milk, opened up a box of Kraft Macaroni, and used the cheese from there~ hehehe
We got the cheese all ready, but we had no chips.
Well, there were some tortilla chips... which were stale.
So we busted out some Original Flavored Sun Chips... this was really good~ :)
And then, my friend decided to cut up some apples after...
But the funny thing was that it looked like she cut it with her teeth~! hahahahaha
After that, she decided to make caramel apples, which I didn't understand cuz she didn't have any caramel~ -.-;;;;
But of course, she said she could make caramel~ kkkkkk
So, she heated up a pot and got some sugar, milk, and See's candy and melted it all together~
(Was there any other ingredients?)
Hahahahahaha
I thought it was pretty good, but a little too sweet~
And I also didn't understand why the apple was heated up too~ ^^;;;;

Anyways, it was too much fun~
I guess all this happened because we were lazy~ hehehehe
Until next time... we have to do this again!!!!

We celebrated her birthday at Chuck E. Cheese.
It was fun... brought me back to childhood~ ^^
In the beginning, it felt weird because we were the only people without kids there.
But, later on, we didn't care...

This weekend we went to the Salton Sea to take some pictures~
We've been talking about it, but never went.
Finally... and it was better than I expected!!!!
It had an eerie feel and interesting~

The above image is from Salton City.
The shore was white because it was covered with some kind of salt and dead fishes.

These are from Salvation Mt.
The creator, Leonard, started this like 40 years ago.
He saw a blimp advertising Budweiser and he was motivated to make this...
Because he thought, "Why not evangelize this way?"

Our last stop... Bombay Beach~
Heard this place was once flooded...
So if you go there, everything is covered in dirt/salt.
And the colors were very mystic... interesting~

Good Ol' Days

Couple of us went back to UCI for memories~ ^^

This was a lecture we crashed to see how the classes were...

One thing that changed was that almost everyone in the class had their own laptop.
When we were going to school, there wasn't that many...

And it was like 5 years ago~ ;;;;

First year in college, this was where we spent most of our time~
They totally rebuilt this place...
I liked it the way it was before.
They didn't have as many tables, but it was much cozier and felt like home!

This is the door of my room in the dorms.
Now, 2 girls live in there...
And I hope they are having as much fun as I did~ hehe

This is the apartment we lived in for a year~

It was a 3 bedroom with about 8 to 10 people living there.
I don't know how we survived!!!

Well, I wasn't there most of the time~ hahahahaha

The price did go up a little from before, but it's still worth it~ :)

A Great Day!!!

Today was a great day of spending time with great friends.
I realized how blessed I am to have such friends.
We don't have to see each other often...
Once we meet, it just feels right~
We laughed sOOOO much today...
I haven't laughed like this in forever~

Our day started off at my house by making some music.
It's so funny how we all have different taste in music, but somehow it blends well~
Then, we headed over to the mall and did some shopping.
Well, I just window-shopped~ ^^
Came back home and played some more music and, after, finally some food!!!!

Tonight, we also went to Riverside because there was an open mic session and my friend was playing.
It was AWESOME!!!!
He did a great job... everyone was really touched by his music~
He was like a celebrity!
Everyone loved it~!!!
But also, it was fun how while we were there, there was a little earthquake...
That was weird~
All in all, it was good to see everybody, ranging from different skill levels, just going up there and playing and singing with passion...
NICE~

After, we stopped by a donut place that I know in Riverside and conversed a bit with the people there.
We also got free donuts and coffee!!!!
We are so grateful~ ;-)
On our way home, we stopped by to meet another friend at Denny's.
We chatted it up and ate AGAIN~ kkk

I didn't know how to cook any Thanksgiving dishes so I just bought some pie.
So much food...
We had around 20 pounds of turkey!!!!! :P

I've been trying to workout, but still I was being lazy...

Daylight Interior

This was a group work for daylight interior done at a model home.

It was our first attempt, but I think it came out pretty good~

The 4 of us worked well together...

It was really fun!

I realized how much work is put into shooting interiors~ ^^
